WC Shoots National Campaign

Wild Collective recently produced a major national campaign for a leading computer-tech accessory company. The shoot was spread out across 7-days in two major cities with many moving parts including models, real-world locations, studio locations and prop houses, extensive lighting, travel and a crew that was as few as 2 and as many as 6. To meet the clients deadline, extensive retouching was done in real-time around the shoot with an additional 4-days of post-production after final selects were made. Despite the intense schedule, it was success! Once the campaign is made public, we’ll post images here on the blog.

Book Trailer: Osa, Roy Toft

Wild Collective teamed up with Photographer/Author Roy Toft to produce a 2-minute trailer showcasing the beautiful photography captured by the author. Since the project was being produced after-the-fact and the WC team was not in the field with Roy, there was no original HD footage or video at all, only the stills that appear in his book in addition to a few behind-the-scenes still images. The team at WC decided to do an in-person interview with Roy, who was relatively local to our offices in Los Angeles. Then in post, the music selections were made and  sound bed created while our graphic design team began to come up with concepts to display the still images as well as “spice up” the presentation of the images. Our goal was to steer clear of a traditional book trailer that often is just a slide show with audio, but to create a dynamic, entertaining and potentially viral social-networking piece. After approximately two weeks of post production, the final result is one we are proud of.

Wild Collective presents the Island of Hawai’i

Wild Collective produced the recently release multimedia for National Parks magazine (a member benefit magazine of the non-profit NPCA.org) about the Island of Hawai’i.

For two weeks, the team at WC traveled the largest of the chain of islands looking for stunning imagery in both stills and video. During this period, the team had to not only produce enough strong still imagery to fill a 7-8 page feature in a national magazine, but also capture enough HD footage to produce an approx. 5-minute multimedia companion film for the web. As a team of three people, WC worked in the haze of a spewing volcanoes sulphur-dioxide tained air that burns lungs and eyes, spent hours in dense, tropical rain forests and of course, enjoyed the breeze and black sand of the beaches. The team also summited Mauna Kea, the world’s highest mountain including it’s 20,000 foot base underwater. At over 13,000 feet, oxygen was scarce and shooting became as laborious as our breathing.

Once the trip was over, there was another 4-weeks of production for both the still photos and multimedia. Stills took approx. 2 weeks to edit the nearly 125 “hero” shots that best represented the island. The multimedia went through it’s various processes from original music selection, script writing, editing, graphic design and animations to voiceover from a native hawaiian.  In the end, the project is a simple glimpse into this otherworldly landscape.
